The Last Text You Sent
When Avery starts her junior year at Warner Prep, life is good. She is kid-sister to the school’s star quarterback, she has a great best friend, and a cute crush. But, all it takes is one bad tackle on the football field, and Avery’s world falls apart. Now, Avery will be spending her junior year grieving for her brother, Whit, instead of cheering him on from the bleachers.
When an EMT returns Whit’s phone to Avery, she discovers somebody is still texting him, and doesn’t seem to realize he is dead. Avery is determined to figure out the identity of the mysterious texter. Armed with only initials, and a few clues, Avery heads to her grandmother’s summer home in Black Mountain to search for this person and break the news about Whit’s accident.
Of course, the best person to help Avery search happens to be Jack- the brooding bad-boy of Black Mountain (and the only person Avery has ever kissed). Reluctantly, Avery accepts Jack’s help to untangle the messy web her brother left behind. But, as the two search Black Mountain together, they find more than just clues from the past. Avery and Jack bond over Whit’s mysterious love story, and start to create a love story of their own.
